About
the Artist:
Born in 1959, in Northern Indiana, Mike Servis graduated from ITT Technical
Institute, which in turn led to a career in computer technology and networking.
His work in this field coupled with his love of photography for the past 25
years has led to a unique ability to create artistic, detail oriented, digitally
enhanced photos. His ability to capture expression during special moments
gives his photos a personal, natural touch.
Self taught in his photography career, Mike began to study
photography and all types of photographers. Excelling in portrait and
scenery photography, Mike decided to launch servisphotographics.com in
2008.
Family and Background:
Mike and Renee Servis have 2 children and have lived a rather unique life.
Born in Northern Indiana, they decided to move to Salt Lake City, Utah
immediately after college to become ski bumbs. Realizing they were not cut
out to work full time at a resort they moved to Salt Lake and pursued their
respective careers. They ended up staying in beautiful Utah for 13 years.
Mike's love of photography began there with the breathtaking scenery of
mountains and canyons. In 1996, feeling a call from God on their lives,
they sold all of their possessions and became missionaries for the Church of the
Nazarene accepting assignment in Nairobi Kenya. They worked for the next 4
years in Kenya, taking every opportunity to experience the game parks in Africa,
taking photographs of animals, people, bush churches and just about everything
else in this beautiful country. Returning from the mission field in 2000
the Servis family settled in Terre Haute, Indiana and returned to their careers.
Recently Mike decided to launch a business in photography, first by providing
slide shows and wedding invitations and more recently as a wedding photographer.
He has also been a church event photographer since 2004, taking photos of
special events such as baptisms, baby dedications, VBS, church directories, etc.
